Tweet Tweet!

If you haven't heard of Twitter you will! Twitter is a social networking site that is basically an instant messaging system that you can access online or on your cell phone. When you send someone a message it is called a "tweet", (hence the title of this blog).

You can tweet about anything; your bad break up, the awesome goal your team just made, your anger over a new law, or a random thought. I recently set up an Twitter account for Washington Drug Rehab called the RiverSourceLink, on which I post daily inspirational messages to help people stay focused on their recovery. People who have Twitter accounts can connect to my account and read my tweets by opting to 'Follow' me. Likewise, I get to read the messages of the people I 'Follow'. The cool thing about Twitter is that almost everybody is doing it. :) I am following Obama and Michelle, Time Magazine, Oprah, my nephews, random people that make me laugh, and everyone in between! On a serious note, a lot of people start using drugs and continue using drugs because it is a way for them to feel a sense of connection with other people. Being connected to others is one of our basic human needs, and there are positive and negative ways for us to fulfill that need. As strange as it seems, Twitter really is a fun safe way to start expressing yourself and connect with others. On Twitter you can vent, share your passions, learn new things, promote your business, stalk your favorite celebrity, or even get a little help staying connected to your Source!

Shop at a Thrift Store

Maybe you are like me and you're not a big "shopper". Well, even if you aren't you might want to try thrift shopping. I just moved to a new place, and a friend of mine suggested I thrift shop to find cool stuff for it. I didn't think I would like it at all, but I found that love it! The smart girl in me loves finding the things I want at amazing prices, and the hippie in me loves knowing I am helping the environment by re-using things that might other wise be thrown into landfills. Another perk to thrift shopping is that I never know what treasure I will happen upon. I can hunt for treasures like furniture, appliances, clothing, jewelery, antiques, and more! Plus there are so many places I can thrift shop: at home online, at yard sales, second hand stores, and swap meets. Recently I learned that some people even make a business out of finding expensive treasures at thrift stores buying them cheap and then re-selling them for profit!

Over-all the most important thing I got out of thrift shopping was learning that I enjoyed something that I never thought I would like. After you complete your drug or alcohol abuse rehab program, it is important to stay open to new experiences and ideas as you search for Drug Free Fun activities. Staying open to new things will allow you to discover new treasures hidden within yourself.

Volunteer in Your Community

While attending the River Source Naturopathic drug and alcohol abuse rehab you get the opportunity to participate in a service project. Personally, I love service projects! Although giving of ourselves is not always easy or fun, it's always fulfilling. Creating a fulfilling life is more important that creating a "fun" life, because fun is a fleeting emotion, while fulfillment is a lasting one that helps us to grow. When we use drugs we stop ourselves from growing, and from experience we know how harmful that can be to our lives and the lives of those who care about us. So taking the time to serve and give back to your community is an excellent way to grow and develop your ability to appreciate life - which will make everything you do more enjoyable!

To find out where you can volunteer in your community check out the website All For Good.

Extreme Windsurfing Go Pro HD

This guy makes Windsurfing look really easy - it's not. But it's a lot of fun for highly athletic people who like water sports and excitement. One of my best friends went to Drug Rehab Washington and detoxed during a 60 day program, then spent another 60 days in Costa Rica, learning to Wind Surf. He had such an amazing time he went back to Costa Rica a year later for vacation and met up with all of his old friends and the Windsurfing instructors, who are now like his extended family. He is still drug free and having fun!

Indoor Sky Diving - Get High on Life!

I met a really cool guy that completed a 90 day drug rehabilitation treatment program at a Washington Rehab River Source facility and then went on to create a new life as a Sky Dive instructor at an indoor facility. He is having an amazing time teaching people how to get high on life - drug free!
